‘White Heart Lane’ declares the Sun, referring to Harry Kane whose comments yesterday indicate he wants to remain at Tottenham. It’s described as an ‘Old Trafford Blow’ by the tabloid.
As if that wasn’t enough pain, Tony Evans of the Time (and renowned Liverpool fan) says that his club are interested in Roberto Firmino. And that is being reported as ‘Liverpool in plan to hijack United target’, and why not? If Liverpool can sign Clyne and Firmino it will do their ego the world of good to think they got one over on United, because it’s obvious players would choose a perennially underachieving club to one that is usually in the Champions League and competing for trophies. Just ask Simon Kjaer.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the Daily Star say that Manchester United’s summer has been SHATTERED by Borussia Dortmund.
But according to Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, the Germany star (Gundogan) could snub the advances of the Red Devils and stay in Dortmund.
“Maybe there is still a chance that he has a rethink,” he told the WAZ newspaper.
“We are in talks and Ilkay is a decent lad.”
We have rung the emergency services and told them to get around to United asap. But we’ll pull together, hopefully.
Andreas Pereira scored a tremendous goal for Brazil’s U20’s in the U20 World Cup Final but it wasn’t enough to stop them losing 2-1 to Serbia. It may well have done enough to convince United’s upper management to give him a chance in the first team squad, you would think it’s inevitable.
Sticking with the South American theme, apparently Nicolas Otamendi is prepared to put in a transfer request to force through a move. We’ll see.
For a Saturday, it’s pretty slow, but Sunday is always a bonanza.
We’re celebrating anyway today at RetroUnited.com towers. Why not go on Twitter to wish our editor and social media manager Luke a very happy 30th birthday?
