Manchester United are set to sign Regan Poole of Newport County after agreeing a fee of £400,000.
The 17 year old defender has been training with United, after having a trial at the club last year, and is on his way to Carrington to undergo a medical.
Newport’s youth development coach Mike Flynn spoke about the player last year.”Manchester United have been very impressed with him and decided to make the first move,” said Flynn. “I spoke with Regan earlier and he’s absolutely buzzing. He’s gone up there and done well. He’s very good on the ball… he’s got a great spring on him, he’s fit, he’s strong.
“He’s literally got most of the attributes that I think he can go on and become a top player. As long as he keeps working hard and improving and always wanting to learn, he’s definitely going to have a great career. If the move comes off is down to the club and Manchester United, but I hope it comes off for him because I really think he can go on and make a great career.”
Poole played 12 times for County last season and has featured in three games for them this term.
