Manchester United’s reported interest in Sergio Ramos looks to be over after the defender was named the new captain of Real Madrid.
Ramos has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford and some reports even suggested that the World Cup winner had agreed terms but the news that he has been given the armband after the departure of Iker Casillas surely puts an end to the speculation.
Talk of the transfer had lessened as the player went to Australia for Madrid’s pre-season programme.
As the player was apparently central to any proposed transfer of David De Gea and it remains to be seen what impact this news has on that situation.
