I was extremely saddened to hear the shock news of the death of Sir Matt Busby’s son Sandy. Having seen him before United’s recent away match at Burnley just over 2 weeks ago, it was clearly extremely unexpected. It is a sad loss for his family, his friends, everyone who met him and also to Manchester United Football Club.
Sandy continued to attend United games and a large number of functions throughout his life.
I was fortunate to have got to meet him on a number of occasions, at United matches and at some United Dinners.
However, the stand out time for me was a few days before the 2011 Champions League Final. MUTV recorded a live TV Show called ‘An Audience with Paddy Crerand and Sandy Busby’ which I was at. It was really interesting to hear Sandy’s memories and views on United on this show. When the filming was done, Sandy spent plenty of time chatting with us all and was as friendly as always. His love for United and pride for his father Sir Matt was as strong as ever, talking to him that night.
Our thoughts and condolences are with the Busby family.
So sorry to hear of Sandy passing away
I have known Sandy and Irene for many years my thoughts are with Irene and the Girls at this sad time
God bless and truly nice man
