Rio Ferdinand sends plea to Mourinho to sign this one goal in two games striker

Former England international and Manchester United centre back Rio Ferdinand has admonished Jose Mourinho to sign up France international Antoine Griezmann, per report.

Griezmann has been in the transfer radar of United since last summer. However, the versatile forward decided to stay put at the Vicente Calderon but it is believed that he is in the want of a new challenge away from the La Liga.

However, United are not the only club linked with signing the star player. Real Madrid and Arsenal have also been linked with Griezmann

Manchester United chances of signing the French next summer was boosted when the player admitted that a move to the Santiago Bernabeu is unrealistic, leaving Old Trafford as his most probable destination.

Although, Ibrahimovic has been in blistering form this season, United have scored less goals than any of the clubs in the first six of the Premier League log. The Red Devils have scored 46 goals in fifth position while Arsenal have 61 goals, which is the least among the other top six clubs. Apparently, a goal poacher in the stead of Griezmann can bring back the glory days for United.

Having recognised the need for a striker, Ferdinand said,

“I would love to see Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann at Old Trafford. He can be the No.9 that leads the line or plays deeper to link the attack — and Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial can learn from him.

“But Manchester United must qualify for the Champions League if they want to sign him. That just makes their Europa League tie against Anderlecht even more important.”

Griezmann has averaged one goal in two La Liga games for the Rojiblancos this season. He has scored 15goals in 30 La Liga appearances this term.
