Robbie Savage: United need four or five new signings
Former footballer and pundit, Robbie Savage believes Jose Mourinho needs four or five more signings to mount a serious title challenge for next season. The Red Devils finished sixth on the Premier League table, a distant 24 points behind eventual champions, Chelsea and only qualified to next season’s Champions League by virtue of winning the Europa League. The Old Trafford outfit have also been beset by injuries all season, meaning that the Portuguese has also had to rotate his squad, not offering consistent performances enough, which does not augur well for a title win.

Speaking on BBC Radio Live 5 on Wednesday night, he said:

“I think they need to sign four or five players. If David De Gea goes then you need a new keeper, even though Romero has done nothing wrong.

“You need a full back and a centre-back to go alongside Eric Bailly, who has been brilliant this season. If Michael Carrick goes you need another creative midfielder and if Zlatan Ibrahimovic goes then you need a striker.

“You wonder if Marcus Rashford is good enough to be the number nine, he is a huge talent but does he score enough goals? I think you need another striker for him to play with.” he added.

Manchester United won the Europa League on Wednesday night after goals by Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan condemned Ajax to a 2-0 defeat, ensuring United qualify for the Champions League and being able to attract the best of players worldwide. Jose Mourinho, who has always won the league in his second season at every club he has managed is primed to win the league, as he is looking at the likes of Antoine Griezmann, James Rodriguez and Michael Keane, as well as Jan Oblak.
