Tonge’s Tips: Fulham

In partnership with SetantaBet, 7Cantonas.com brings you “Tonge’s Tips”, a look ahead to the Premier League games in the 2012/13 season with a bit of a twist. Just like last season, Alan, the 7Cantonas team and the good fellows over at GGMU and United Rant are going head to head in their predictions, and want you, our readers, to join in.

Alan After the dismal start last Monday, the lads (and manager) will be looking to bounce back in typical Man Utd fashion. We’re never down for too long!

Fulham will have picked up a bit of confidence from the excellent Norwich result, however heading to play Man Utd at Old Trafford is a different kettle of fish!

With the crowd fired up and a response assured, i can’t see any other outcome than a Man Utd win and will tip up a 2-0 victory.(9/2 with Setanta Bet)

For the bonus bet, I’ll suggest a draw between Liverpool and Man City in Sunday’s live game. Rodgers will want a big response from West Brom and City got out of jail last Sunday against Southampton. Mix these two scenarios together and you end up with a point each. Simple! (23/10 with Setanta Bet)

Mart After a less than impressive display from United on Monday night, we host Fulham on Saturday at 3pm. That’s right. Football at Old Trafford at 3pm!

Whilst we didn’t beat Everton and never really looked like getting anything out of the game I am really excited about Kagawa. He has the eye for a pass, can take his time on the ball and played some lovely through balls on Monday night and I’m really looking forward to the future with him featuring.

Fulham travel to Old Trafford on the back of an impressive 5-0 win on the opening day at the season but you have to think they won’t get the same time and space that they did against Norwich last Saturday.

Ferguson has today confirmed that we’re not going to see any of our injured defensive trio back so will it be Carrick at centre back again or will we give Scott Wootton a game alongside Vidic.

I’m going to back United to pick up all three points in a 3-0 win. (13/2 with Setanta Bet)

Liverpool host Manchester City on Sunday afternoon and with Brendan Rodgers team crashing away at West Brom it’s difficult to see past a City win but I’m going to back the draw in this one. (23/10 with Setanta Bet)

Ed Less than a week into the season and already there’s pressure on United to secure all three points at home to Fulham on Saturday. After all, there are fine margins between winning and losing a Premier League title, as Sir Alex Ferguson and his players know to their grave cost!

After defeat at Everton on Monday there’s no doubt Ferguson’s team will be hurting – the question is whether United can get the balance right to beat an in-form Fulham at Old Trafford.

Last Monday United struggled at the back – with two midfielders in defence –
and failed to turn possession into chances and opportunities into goals at the other end. The woeful performances by Wayne Rooney and Nani, in particular, did not help the Reds’ cause.

But surely it’ll be different during the opening home match of the season, no matter how well Martin Jol’s side played in hammering Norwich City last weekend?

A comfortable 3-0 win at Old Trafford seems about right … and surely it’s the right time for new boys Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie to open their scoring accounts for the club! (13/2 with Setanta Bet)

As a bonus prediction Newcastle United heads south to Chelsea at the weekend. While Eden Hazard has captured all the headlines for Chelsea in two victories, the Geordies put in a fine performance against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. It makes Newcastle a good punt for a draw at Stamford Bridge this weekend. (3/1 with Setanta Bet)

Setanta Bet are offering a £5 free bet to the first person who posts a prediction that beats the team, and the scoring is as follows :
