Manchester United will sign Brazilian international, Fred this summer, according to respected football journalist, Duncan Castles.
The 25 year-old central midfielder, who currently plies his trade with Ukrainian outfit, Shakhtar Donetsk, has never hidden his ambition to move to a bigger club. Fred who was recently named in the Brazil squad for this summer’s World Cup is expected to join United as manager Jose Mourinho targets an overhaul of his playing staff in the middle of the park.
Club legend Michael Carrick is retiring at the end of the campaign while the future of Marouane Fellaini is also shrouded in mystery as he enters the final month of his contract at Old Trafford.
Fred, who has been likened to countryman, Fernandinho is desperate to move to the Premier League with United moving ahead of bitter rivals, Manchester City in the race for the £50m-rated player. Fred has stated that he has informed his club to move this summer saying, “I want to make a bigger leap, I made it clear to the club, I think I have to change a little. I have dreams of playing in major clubs in Europe. I made it clear that it’s my moment.”
Duncan Castles, who is a transfer expert has offered hope to United fans by saying that the player will be a Red this summer. He told the Transfer Window Podcast that “Another guy United tried to get in January and lost out in the battle to Manchester City was Fred, that situation has reversed to an extent that Manchester United have made an offer to Fred in terms of salary and contract length, which is appealing to the player, who wants to leave and wants to come to England.” He added.
Fred is an all-round midfielder known for his incisive passing, flair and setpiece prowess. He will offer United another dimension should he sign.
