Swap deals almost never happen, do they? But rumours coming out of Old Trafford this afternoon suggest that Manchester United are in talks to sign West Brom’s Saido Berahino.
United’s need for a striker was never more apparent than in their 0-0 draw with Newcastle at the weekend, though the tricky thing for Louis van Gaal has been identifying a player who can play back up to Wayne Rooney and still be of the quality to play for the Red Devils.
Berahinho is a player who appears to tick every box, free to play in Europe, young, English, quick and unpredictable.
And, apparently, United are already in talks to land the young striker, with Jonny Evans rumoured to be heading the other way.
It is likely that United will have to pay a fee on top in order to acquire the player, who has attracted the attention of Spurs recently.
