Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged Angel di Maria to remain at Old Trafford mind rumours linking him with a cut price move to PSG.
Di Maria is currently injured so is not yet with his team-mates in the USA and some outlets are suggesting he may not see them again – that a fee with the French side is close to being agreed.
Since getting sent off against Arsenal in the FA Cup, Di Maria was used sparingly, apparently due to Louis van Gaal not approving of the player’s discipline levels.
But Neville – a bona fide legend, recently voted the best right back in our history by RetroUnited.com readers – says that he thinks United’s record signing should stay.
‘That would be a big shame if that happened,’ Neville tweeted. ‘He should resist and want to prove himself in the PL.’
Di Maria has been likened to Juan Veron, who left United after just two seasons, but maybe he ought to pay attention to his compatriot who recently said,’Looking back, I didn’t make the right choice. I should have stayed in Manchester for many reasons. My wife left Manchester in tears. We were used to moving to new cities and I’d never seen her crying because of a move.’
Di Maria finished the season as United’s most creative player statistically and also created more goals than any other United player in 2014/15.
RetroUnited.com believes we should keep hold of him and give him a chance to prove his undoubted talent in front of a sturdier and settled midfield.
