United Linked With Fresh Move For Lazio Star?

We felt it was curious timing for it to be released that Manchester United had made an unsuccessful move for Argentina midfielder Lucas Biglia.

Was he really the first choice? If so, how did it go under the radar for so long? And why did it only take until after the signings of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin for this news to come out?

If you are suspicious about the motives of a certain player’s representatives then join the queue.

But Enzo Montepaone, Biglia’s agent, appears, at least to be straight up – saying that his client’s contract needs to be ‘clarified’. This is being reported by forzaItalianfootball as a current and existing interest from Manchester United which will be resolved soon.

From their website:

Enzo Montepaone, agent of Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia, said on Tuesday that his client’s future will not be decided until after the Supercoppa Italiana.

The midfielder, who was a key factor in the Biancocelesti’s strong 2014/15 Serie A campaign, has continued to impress this summer for Argentina at the Copa America and has begun to interest some big clubs, most notably Manchester United and Real Madrid.

“I cannot say how many offers Lazio have received [for Biglia] or how many they have rejected,” Montepaone told LaLazioSiamoNoi.it.

“At the end, the best thing for the club and the player alike will be done.

“We’ve got to talk to [sporting director Igli] Tare and [president Claudio] Lotito.

“There are many things that need to be clarified and addressed, such as objectives, the player’s contract, and opportunities.

“We will talk after the Supercoppa.

In the upcoming weeks Biglia will fly out to China with his side, where on August 8 they will face Serie A champions Juventus for the first trophy of the season in a re-match of the Coppa Italia final in May, won by the Bianconeri 2-1 after extra time.

The two teams will play for the Supercoppa trophy for the second time in the last three years after Juventus were victorious 4-0 in the 2013 edition of the contest.
