While most of Manchester United’s squad has headed to America it seems like anyone left is off to Turkey.
“Some people from Turkey called me to negotiate Víctor’s signing,” Valdés’s agent Ginés Carvajal was reported as telling as.com. “But I’ve never spoken to the president of that Turkish club. Hence, I’m not going to discuss the comments he made regarding Víctor. I don’t know him.
“We have no intention of speaking to them again because the player does not want to go to Antalyaspor. His wish is to continue to play for Manchester United. He has one year left on his contract with the club. We don’t see any just reason to leave the club. United is one of the best three or four clubs in the world.
“Víctor is enthusiastic to have a place in the team for next season and is ready to give his best to help the team much more.”
However, Valdes was not among the goalkeepers travelling to the US today, and was left out of tonight’s U21 friendly with Salford City, which is sure to intensify talk that he is soon to be on his way.
The news is a shock as Valdes has been the name most prominently mentioned as the one to play in goal should David De Gea leave, though the news will obviously spark further speculation that De Gea will stay at United for another year at least.
Less controversial is the absence from the tour of Rafael. His recent posts on Instagram suggested he would face the challenge of the new signing Matteo Darmian but after being left behind and out of tonight’s squad, talk of a move to Galatasaray is sure to intensify.
