Manchester United could be set for our second Chilean arrival at Old Trafford after reports emerged that we are being linked to a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder, Arturo Vidal. This week saw the arrival of former Arsenal star, Alexis Sanchez but he could be joined by his friend and compatriot, Vidal who has always stated his desire to play with Sanchez at club level as both men have won two continental trophies with Chile.
According to Maks Cardenas, a football journalist known for his specialty on covering Chilean players, Vidal is interesting United who could make a bid for him in the summer. The former Juventus man has been linked to a deal to join Antonio Conte at Chelsea but with United being interested, we could yet hijack the signing of the 30-year-old combative midfielder.
Michael Carrick is expected to retire at the end of the season to join the club’s coaching setup while the future of Marouane Fellaini is still up for question, as the Belgian has mounting speculation about his contract situation. Below is a mock up picture of how the midfield enforcer will look in a United jersey.
The German giants have recently completed the signing of young Schalke midfielder, Leon Goretzka who will join in the summer, which has thrown the future of Vidal in Munich up for question. Bayern boss, Jupp Heyckens has rotated his squad since taking over from sacked Carlo Ancelotti meaning that Vidal has not been an indispensable member of the first team this season like previous campaigns.
Mourinho is keen on midfield reinforcements and sees Vidal as a perfect player for the United midfield, having admired him for a long time. He is an all-action midfielder known for his tough tackling, combative style in the middle of the park.
He has made 25 appearances this season, scoring five times and creating a further two for his teammates.
