Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has taken to social media to ask former team-mate David De Gea to stay at the club.
De Gea has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and is expected to join them on a free transfer next season if the clubs cannot agree a compromise now.
Got a message for my former @ManUtd teammate @D_DeGea #PleaseDontGo 🙏 https://t.co/YnrMKyPVpa

Today is the 13th anniversary of Rio’s transfer to United. He joined from Leeds United for a fee of £29.1m and won six league titles and a Champions League title and is regarded as the club’s finest ever centre half.
How much sway the former Reds centre half has is probably limited; it is refreshing to see someone break the status quo amid a clinical atmosphere in the sport.
